How to Become A Modern-Day Ninja Master
June 30, 2007
The ninja were a military order in Japan. Most people have seen them in movies and fictional books.
They are the guys dressed in the black suits that seem to have amazing powers, such as climbing the outside of buildings with no rope, or seeming to disappear instantly.
Behind ninjutsu you will sometimes see reference to ‘hidden powers’ or ninja magic. Learning what this is exactly is part of the journey of the ninja master. All of us have the ability to tap into a greater force than we usually display. With training you can master this.
But behind all that mystery is the true story of the ninja master, who has very definite training. The actual martial art has a name, which is ninjutsu. Jutsu is a Japanese word for way.
There is also another Japanese word for way, which is do(pronounced doh)
So you have karate-do, which means the way of the empty hand.
Ninja Training in the US
There are various training schools in the US but before you start I suggest you read up on it. A great resource I have found is by Ninja Fanatic, John Lee.
How To Get Your Golf Technique Right
June 30, 2007
There is really no doubt about just how important the correct golf techniques are to playing a consistently good and yet enjoyable game. Actually ever since the inception of this wonderful game of golf, emphasis has always been on getting your golf technique right.
And not without reason. The game of golf is such that without constant attention to detail in golf techniques and without making an effort to always improve on your golf technique when playing, chances of making an impact in this game are really nil. It is also highly unlikely that you will ever enjoy your game.
In fact part of the attraction to the game for many, is the fact that seemingly simple movements contain so much attention to detail and application of the correct golf techniques to execute successfully.
However recent developments have put even more pressure on golfers to apply the correct golf techniques to their games. For example clubs have been made bigger and golfers have also gotten a lot fitter.
The result is that many golfers who have stuck to their golf technique and avoided exercises have suddenly found themselves under considerable pressure, especially as more and more amateur golfers embrace golf specific exercises to improve their game.
Exercising for life ? The magic is in the synergy!
June 29, 2007
Synergy: the working together of two or more things, people, or organizations, especially when the result is greater than the sum of their individual effects or capabilities
Momentum toward your goals is generated when all components of fitness are incorporated into your workout program.
” Heart-through cardiovascular workout
” Skeletal muscle-through strength training
” Joints-through flexibility exercises.
” Good Nutrition-through balanced sensible eating.
Some exercise is better than no exercise; however, if your program is lopsided with one or two of the same activities, you will not get the best results.
DRIVING THE CAR
Having synergy in your exercise program is like turning a car as you are driving down the road. It’s much easier to turn the wheel while the car is moving rather than when it is sitting in your driveway. Momentum allows you to steer the car, just as momentum allows you to continually progress in your workout program.
ROLLING THE SNOWBALL
Another example of having synergy in your workout program would be rolling a snowball. Once the momentum has started, it keeps building and building. Keeping that in mind, it is very easy to only do certain exercises that you like and those that take less effort; however, because this will not work, in the end you will end up having to workout harder and longer.
Complete Pec Training Tips
June 29, 2007
Put these pec techniques to use and develop that full, muscular chest today.
For most people I see in the gym, the bench press has become more about building an ego than building a quality set of pecs. Rather than worry about how much you can lift, you need to focus your attention on how fully you can train and fatigue the pecs themselves (rather than the arms, shoulders, back, quads, etc.)
Here’s an oldie but a goodie to help get you to isolate your pecs on the flat bench press. It’s a simple technique that can really make a difference in how fully and intensely you’re able to hit the pecs:
Sit upright with perfect posture on the end of a flat bench. Roll your shoulders back and down slightly-almost as if you’re pushing your shoulder blades towards each other. Hold this position as you lay back on the flat bench.
With a shoulder’s width grip and your elbows in, maintain this position throughout the bench press. It may feel awkward at first and you won’t be able to lift as much weight as you’re used to, but you’ll hit your pecs hard and you’ll feel the pump.
Flexibility Exercises For The Golf Swing Will Make All The Difference
June 28, 2007
Virtually every golfer knows the importance of flexibility for a good golf swing but not everybody has fully accepted the key role that flexibility exercises can play.
Few understand exactly why flexibility exercises have made such a huge difference for the golf swings of many a golfer. They are totally surprised and actually puzzled as to why this new exercise wave has swept across the game and is proving not to be just a fad but something that will continue to be a part and parcel of the game for many years to come.
So why should flexibility exercise be so important for the golf swing? Is there not any other way that golfers can more comfortably improve on their golf swing without going for strenuous flexibility exercises?
For a moment imagine the entire golf swing action from the back swing right through top impact and the follow through. What does you body feel as you go through the action?
You will find that in many cases there is considerable pressure on certain parts of your body and even in some cases pain. This can best be seen with brand new golfers stepping onto the course for the very first time. And especially those who are not in good physical condition.
Working Out On The Reebok Elliptical Trainer
June 28, 2007
The Reebok elliptical trainer is a large machine with mostly self contained parts. This makes it difficult for the owner to do repairs and maintenance himself. There is very little problem with the Reebok elliptical, except that after some regular use it does become very noisy.
Most people seem to really enjoy the Reebok elliptical because it has such a smooth ride. The handlebars move with the pedals and help to give you an upper body workout. If you don’t want to use them, and many people don’t, you can leave them off when putting the Reebok elliptical together. If you elect to leave them on the machine and don’t want to use them, there is another bar on top in the center that you can use to just hold on to for balance. Be careful because the handlebars will still swing back and forth.
This machine has the wheel in the back like the trainers you might find in the gym, which accounts for the smoother ride.
The pedals themselves do not have movement which also actually helps keep the ride smooth, and even when riding the Reebok Elliptical at high speeds the machine is very stable with no wobbly movement at all.
How to Develop More Power in Your Golf Swing
June 27, 2007
How can you develop more power in your golf swing? This is probably a question that all of us want an answer to. Most of us go to great lengths to do whatever it takes to get that "power" into our drives off the tee. I think we probably all have some ideas of where 300-yard drives come from, but I want to give you the answers without any "fluff."
Golf swing power is the result of three specific factors. Two out of the three are much more important, but the third does have a bearing on the outcome of how far you hit that ball.
The first and probably most evident of the three is your swing mechanics. I bet you are not surprised by this one.
The second one is probably the least recognized of the three, but for many is the "key" to longer drives and the category that is given the least amount of attention. Number two is what we term golf strength. This is defined as how well your body is conditioned (i.e. fitness) to swing a golf club with maximum power. Probably the least understood of the three, and maybe the most needed by golfers in general. We will talk more about this later. Let us move on to number three in regards to power for your drives.

Lose Weight And Skyrocket Your Metabolism With Regular Cardiovascular Exercise
June 26, 2007
Do you try to eat well, even diet, but aren’t seeing the results you were hoping for? Are you just trying to gain more energy? Do you ever feel like you’re not breathing enough?
If you answered yes to any of the questions above you should consider the proven, time-tested weight loss tool called cardiovascular exercise.
I know that it’s terribly hard to start walking or jogging when you have so much stress to deal with in your life. I’ve been through this myself numerous times, but I can always count on the fact that even walking around outside or parking far away from the store can truly increase my energy and metabolism.
For maximum results, balance your meals with a ratio based on 40% carbs, 30% protein, and 30% fat; and do 10 minutes of walking, jogging or running on 3-5 days of the week.
We all have tons of work to do. At many times, we can’t follow the idealistic command of "get off your fat ass and just do it," so I’m not telling you that. That would be pure hypocrisy, so the advice I give to you is to just take 10 minutes to do cardiovascular exercise next time you want to watch television or talk on the phone with a friend.
A Recovered Treasure: The Pilates Method
June 26, 2007
Uncovered After 80 Years of Dormancy, Pilates is Far From Dead.
In a way, he’s a lot like Edgar Allen Poe. The famous writer had been deceased for many years before he miraculously cracked super-stardom, his once-buried work revamped from the ashes to be relished by millions and millions of literature fans.
Well, Joseph Pilates is not Edgar Allen Poe. The German immigrant is hardly a household name in 1999, but just like Poe, some thirty-two years after his death, his lost treasures are now being discovered as genius works of art.
You’ve seen the countless infomercials in the middle of the night, boasting this piece of exercise equipment and that toning apparatus. They usually get a famous retired athlete like Joe Montana to endorse it and swear by it. You’ll actually watch for a minute and a half before realizing that you just wasted 90 seconds of your life.
But the word is out that the Pilates Method is different. This one actually works.
That’s why, if you look around, Pilates studios are cropping everywhere throughout the United States. Many health clubs are offering Pilates classes on a regular basis and more and more Pilates machines are filling household closets where those dusty sets of golf clubs used to rest.
